The $15 billion Hudson Yards project in New York City has broken ground on a 47-story tower. The South Tower will be paired with a 69-story North Tower, and a mall will connect the two. The North Tower will feature "observation-deck prow cantilevers" 80 feet from the top of the building. Designs for the project are a work in progress, but the 26-acre development "is big enough to incubate a truly 21st-century downtown," writes James Russell.
