Espinosa, an early childhood and dual language expert. Evidence shows students who maintain two languages tend to perform better academically, but finding enough bilingual teachers to teach dual language programs can be a challenge, Espinosa notes in a recently published research review and policy brief. In the report, she offers suggestions that monolingual teachers can use in their classrooms to support dual language learners.
