Pregnant or recently postpartum women who had scores of six or higher using the "Sepsis in Obstetrics Score" were at increased risk of intensive care unit admission, according to a study presented at a meeting on infectious diseases in obstetrics and gynecology. Metrics incorporated into the score include heart rate, temperature, blood pressure, white blood cell count, percentage of immature neutrophils, respiratory rate, oxygen saturation and lactic acid levels.
