The Securities and Exchange Commission suffered a failure of its system for disseminating corporate filings Wednesday, the deadline for companies to file with the regulator for the second quarter. The system "remained up and running and able to accept filings throughout the day, but dissemination of the filings stopped at 3:43 p.m.," spokesman John Nester said. "We have since restored the dissemination service and are processing the backlog of filings." No cause has been given.
