Mary Jo White, head of the Securities and Exchange Commission, called for better computerized-trading rules after a system failure caused the Nasdaq Stock Market to close for more than three hours Thursday. "Today's interruption in trading, while resolved before the end of the day, was nonetheless serious and should reinforce our collective commitment to addressing technological vulnerabilities of exchanges and other market participants," White said. She also said she plans to meet with exchange executives and other market participants to discuss the issue.
