Sen. Lamar Alexander, R-Tenn., asked Congress to pass a bill he co-authored that would clarify oversight of compounding pharmacies to avert more outbreaks related to contaminated treatments. "We know the problem, we have the solution, and it's up to Congress to pass this bill as soon as it returns," he said. Alexander's call followed reports from the FDA of bacterial bloodstream infections tied to compounded drugs made in Texas.
