Johns Hopkins University transplant surgeon Dr. Dorry Segev has recommended that the United Network for Organ Sharing restructure the geographic districts it uses in the distribution of liver transplants. Disparate supply and demand have prompted patients to move in order to increase their chances of receiving a transplant. The goal should be to make sure that people's lives don't depend on where they live, said University of California, San Francisco, transplant chief Dr. John Roberts.
