A YMCA fitness class in Ormond Beach, Fla., is designed to help seniors with arthritis achieve better range of motion, improve their balance and avoid falls. Volusia Flagler Family YMCA's Beverly Johnson says clinical studies have shown the EnhanceFitness program can improve strength and movement, and is like a support group for people with similar medical conditions.
A 100-calorie snack is the portion-right size for between meals, but registered dietitian Susie Bond writes that many prepackaged versions are highly refined and come up short on nutrition and energy. Snacks should be considered fuel stops throughout the day, rather than treats, she writes, and should include carbohydrates, fiber and possibly some protein to help bridge the gap until the next meal.
Semiconductor sales for July in Europe were down by 2.4% from June, yet up 5.3% compared with July 2010, the WSTS program reported. Metal-oxide semiconductor microelectronics posted strong results, as did logic ICs for communications, computers and consumer electronics.
Jim Chambers, who heads the snacks and confectionery business for Kraft Foods North America, will leave the company in July, a spokesman said. The post will be filled by Mark Clouse, senior vice president in the global biscuits division.
