The U.S. manufacturing trade deficit in the first six months of this year narrowed to $225 billion, down from $227 billion during the same period a year ago, suggesting that U.S. companies are regaining ground lost to Asian competitors. The return of manufacturing jobs to the U.S. could reduce the unemployment rate by as much as three percentage points, according to a report by Boston Consulting Group.
