Students must learn to spell and use proper grammar if they are to utilize technology, writes English teacher Laura Deighton of South Yorkshire, England. She writes in this blog post that students should be taught literacy across subjects, in particular, because of the use of devices, noting she has had students who have such poor literacy skills that they are unable to spell the computer password they were assigned. "Any subject that uses a computer is also responsible for teaching literacy and this doesn't stop when we press the on-switch of a piece of technology," she writes.
