Recovery remains spotty for the construction industry based on the most recent analysis of labor data by the Associated General Contractors of America. "Construction employment increased in 37 states during the past 12 months -- the largest number [of states] with gains since early last year," said Ken Simonson, the AGC's chief economist. "But only two states have surpassed their pre-recession peaks, and barely a third of the states added construction jobs between June and July," he added. Construction employment rose 3% since July 2012 on a national level, but slipped by 0.1% from June to July this year.
