Lawmakers and entrepreneurs see a bright future for waste-to-energy gasification, according to an American Chemistry Council report. Full-scale commercial facilities are not yet operating in the U.S., but there are 21 demonstration-scale gasification facilities in operation and 17 commercial-scale facilities in development. "Emerging technologies that can convert waste into electricity, higher-value fuels and chemicals can help us capture plastics' high-energy value and put it to work to help power communities across America," said Steve Russell, vice president of plastics for ACC.
