The school board in Montgomery, Ala., has asked the state education chief to provide a state monitor for the district after a nine-month investigation uncovered evidence of improper grade changing at some schools. School officials say they are not asking for a "take over" of the system, but someone to collaborate with them to make changes. "We see it as the state Board of Education as a partner and we're looking for a partner to come in," board member Durden Dean said.
