Sixty-five percent of inpatients who used a bedside notepad tool called Dear Doctor took notes associated with their hospital stay, while only 22% of those who did not receive the communication tool did so, a study in the Journal of Hospital Medicine indicated. Researchers also found patients in the DD notepad group reported having better communication with their providers and were more likely to receive answers to their questions than those in the control group.
