The U.S. had seen 159 measles cases as of late August, the second highest level since 2000, with all cases coming from exposure abroad, according to the CDC's Anne Schuchat, M.D., director of its National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases. Schuchat said 131 cases were in unvaccinated individuals and she emphasized the importance of physician-patient conversations about vaccinations.
