Communities across the country are debating the pros and cons of allowing illuminated signage, with many looking to dim lighted signs or ban them entirely, ISA's David Hickey writes. ISA has identified several proposed limitations that come up often, including requiring signs to have opaque backgrounds and white or yellow lettering to reduce the amount of light emitted, or be dimmed after dark or turned off when the business is closed.
