A decision by the European Parliament to cap first-generation biofuels at 6% through 2020 rather than the minimum 10% set by the Renewable Energy Directive will have a destabilizing effect on biofuel policy and constrain industry growth, said two renewable fuel groups. "At a time when we need to boost our economy it is difficult to see why MEPs agree to curtail jobs and investment in a sector that helps Europe to grow the production of clean and sustainable fuels," said Rob Vierhout of ePURE.
