Independent insurance agents should take crucial steps to help detect and prevent workers' compensation premium fraud, writes Ranney Pageler, a vice president at Employers. Agents should know the warning signs of fraud, such as under-reporting payroll, misclassifying employees and making changes to decrease a firm's experience-modification factor, Pageler writes. "Agents should never hesitate to report any suspicious activities to a carrier for further investigation," he writes.
