Seventh- and eighth-grade students enrolled in two-period literacy-intervention classes at a K-8 school in Shady Hills, Fla., are gaining confidence in their oral-reading skills by reading books to kindergarten students, their teachers said. The younger students, who don't judge how well the older students read aloud, are exposed to early-literacy skills and the excitement of having the middle-grades students around, kindergarten teacher Maureen Murray said.
