Sales of relaxers for African-American hair are down, according to a Mintel report. Relaxer products make up just 21% of sales for African-American hair product sales; the category is down 26% since 2008 and 15% since 2011, when it was the only sector of the market not to see growth. Over the past year, the research finds that 70% of African-American women are favoring natural styles.
