The chances of the U.S. government shutting down at the end of the day Sept. 30 increased as House Republicans moved ahead with legislation aimed at eliminating funding for President Barack Obama's health care overhaul. House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, said his leadership team will back a measure keeping the government open in the new fiscal year that begins Oct. 1 only if the Democratic-controlled Senate supports elimination of health care funding.
