InterContinental Hotels Group opened its new Hotel Indigo in Brooklyn, N.Y., this week to take advantage of the growth in shopping, dining and events in the area. The hotel interior has echoes of a Vaudeville theater with red velvet curtains and numbered seats along with paintings. "The murals, the colors, the food and beverage ... it has to be rooted very specifically to the neighborhood story; otherwise, you feel like you're in Disney," said IGH's Mary Winslow.
