A coalition of brokers, asset managers and investors is encouraging the EU to retain a proposed "open access" measure in the revised Markets in Financial Instruments Directive. The measure would let market participants choose a securities-clearing venue. "Access will benefit end-investors, stimulate true choice in the execution and clearing of products such as Exchange Traded Derivatives ... reduce costs and minimise risk in the financial system," according to a letter from the coalition.
