Variable annuities are a useful investment in times of uncertainty, but keeping up with all of the options and product features can be a real challenge, according to a panel of financial advisors speaking at the Insured Retirement Institute Vision Annual Meeting in Chicago. "If the clients don't understand it, we may be more apt to not present it, even if it's a complete fit," said Lisa Schomer, an advisor with LPL Financial. "They may not want it because they don't understand it, and we may be reluctant to say down the road that the product has changed."
