About 90% of Kroger employees have approved the grocer's decision to eliminate spousal health-insurance coverage for 11,000 workers in Indiana. The move might set a precedent for the rest of the company as health care costs rise and the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act is implemented. Eliminating spousal coverage is more palatable because spouses can access coverage through state exchanges, Kroger says.
