Almost two-thirds of high-school students who start out with an interest in science, technology, engineering and math subjects graduate with different interests, according to a report by STEMconnector and My College Options, but many regional and national programs are helping students stay excited about STEM subjects. Kids' Tech University is a hands-on STEM workshop supported by Virginia Tech for students ages 9 to 12, and the National Security Agency's Math Education Partnership Program helps motivate students with an interest in and aptitude for math and science.
