A new Labor Department rule extending minimum-wage and overtime protections to caregivers could create a situation in which the elderly in the future find home health care too expensive, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and two Republican congressmen say. The rule could hurt the home care industry as a whole, especially considering many clients need more than 40 hours of care per week, according to Jay Perron, IFA's vice president of government affairs and public policy.
