On the heels of a College Board report that 43% of the graduating class of 2013 met the SAT's benchmark for college and career readiness -- a fifth straight year of stagnant achievement on the college-admissions exam -- some educators say it shows a need for improvement among educators. The concern comes despite increases in achievement among African-American and Hispanic students. The data "show that we have to be doing a much better job of preparing students for success in college," said James Montoya, the College Board's vice president of higher education.
