The Senate will move to take up the Shaheen-Portman energy-efficiency bill as talks to authorize U.S. military action in Syria get put aside, said Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev. "I think it's appropriate that rather than sit here and tread water or do nothing, that we move onto this bill," Reid said. The White House issued a statement Wednesday supporting the bill, saying it "focuses on growing U.S. manufacturing of clean energy products, boosting U.S. manufacturing competitiveness across the board by increasing manufacturing energy productivity, and providing training and technical assistance for manufacturers."
