About 9 in 10 U.S. households have undertaken some form of financial planning, but the degree and potential usefulness of such planning varies widely, according to research sponsored by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards and the Consumer Federation of America. A methodical, comprehensive approach to financial planning is in place for only 20% of households, according to the study.
