Fourteen-month-old Oscar Passoni-Torres of Oklahoma received a prosthetic leg to help him cope with two rare birth deformities that left him with a short femur bone and a missing fibula. As he grows, Oscar can continue to use a prosthesis or have surgery to lengthen his leg. "Regardless what direction they go in, this little kid is going to do incredibly well," said Dr. Kevin Carroll of Hanger, who works with children around the world with similar conditions.
