The Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus emerged more than a year ago in humans, but many questions remain, and some public health officials think the Saudi government could be doing more and doing a better job of sharing data with the international scientific community. World Health Organization officials met Wednesday to discuss the threat, opting not to name it a "Public Health Emergency of International Concern" but calling for more aggressive surveillance, better diagnostics and a particular focus on the hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia this fall.
