Aereo will broaden its reach significantly with the Oct. 22 release of an Android mobile application on Google Play, the online video streamer announced Thursday. Aereo, which operates in eight markets, is an $8 monthly service that allows subscribers to receive signals from local broadcast stations on PCs and mobile devices by way of assigning users virtual antennas. But the company is steeped in legal battles from broadcasters who claim the service infringes on their copyright license. The case could be headed for the U.S. Supreme Court; broadcasters said they will petition the high court to hear the case following conflicting rulings from federal judges on the East and West coasts.
