The Army has extended a grant to University of Montana researchers to examine the use of methamphetamines to help treat traumatic brain injury. Previous research by the same team found that low doses of methamphetamines can be used to trigger brain chemicals to halt the destructive process that typically follows TBI. Researchers hope to develop a treatment that can be used in the field to stop the progress of TBI immediately after exposure to a bomb explosion.
