An oil industry group believes that an Environmental Protection Agency draft plan to cut the 2014 Renewable Fuel Standard blending requirements to 13 billion gallons, as indicated in leaked documents, doesn't go far enough. Ethanol supporters say the oil industry is just out to protect its control of the market. "If oil companies would simply allow marketers to offer that higher-octane, less expensive fuel to consumers, even more ethanol could be used above the oil companies' arbitrary blend-wall level," said Renewable Fuels Association President and CEO Bob Dinneen, adding that more than 40 studies have found that at least 60% of cars can safely use E15.
