Foods such as cheese, raisins and cranberries might help ward off tooth decay, research shows. Drinking tea may prevent plaque buildup and kill bacteria associated with gum disease, and milk can neutralize acids that damage teeth. Eating carrots, apples, cucumbers and other crunchy foods may clean plaque off of teeth, pediatric dentistry researcher Christine Wu says.
