As Chicago Public Schools get ready to administer tests based on Common Core State Standards, officials have announced a policy change that will offer more support to struggling students in third, sixth and eighth grades. Under the change, schools will adopt three tiers of interventions. "Our focus is on support," said Annette Gurley, CPS' chief of teaching and learning. "The goal is not to hold students back. The goal is to provide the supports for the students," she added.
