Dallas physician Daniel K. Leong, who had pleaded guilty in January to conspiracy to commit health care fraud, was sentenced Wednesday to four years in prison. Investigators say that Leong billed Medicare and Medicaid for unnecessary tests and extra office visits, and that he had allowed his staff to copy his signature and write prescriptions. In addition to receiving a prison sentence, Leong was also ordered to repay $865,000.
