Researchers who assessed data from 1,750 patients with coronary artery disease and type 2 diabetes did not find an association between race and ethnicity and five-year risk of death or death/myocardial infarction/stroke. However, improved risk factor regulation was tied to higher five-year survival in patients whose control of risk factors was suboptimal at the start of the study. The results appear in The American Journal of Cardiology.
