Omnicare, the largest nursing home pharmacy in the country, agreed to a $120 million settlement to resolve accusations filed in a whistleblower lawsuit that it participated in "swapping," or providing steep prescription drug discounts to nursing homes for Medicare Part A drugs in order to get the opportunity to also sell higher-margin Part D and Medicaid drugs to the facilities. Omnicare admitted no wrongdoing as part of the settlement deal, which is awaiting approval from a federal court judge.
