Procter & Gamble has created a process that makes plastics for packaging cheaper and greener than what is currently on the market. The new plastic, which reportedly could save P&G $1 billion a year in materials costs, could also lead to lucrative business-to-business agreements with other large firms. The plastics, which can also be used inside of products such as toothbrushes and diapers, are up to 75% thinner than existing packaging and use more recycled materials, according to patent filings.
