Enterprises are moving en masse into the cloud, but for most of them, hosted technologies still make up a fraction of their infrastructure and storage needs, according to a new report from Savvis that found that only 5% of companies depend on an outsourced version of the cloud for the majority of their IT needs. According to the report, 45% of polled firms rely primarily on in-house IT, but that number will drop to 12% in just five years. "We're on the cusp of a major shift in IT infrastructure models," wrote Savvis. "This shift ultimately leads to the outsourced cloud as the dominant model; however, the journey will take almost five years."
