Monthly premiums for stand-alone dental plans being sold on the Affordable Care Act exchanges vary widely, from $6 per child in Utah for the lowest-cost plan available to $65.75 for South Carolina's highest-cost option. A typical small-business plan was about $21 a month per child last year, according to NADP data, but minimum coverage under the Affordable Care Act may be more extensive than some current plans provide.
