Ad spend by the health care sector rose from $1.54 billion in 2012 to $1.74 billion in 2013, driven in part by the Affordable Care Act, according to a report from SNL Financial. Ad spend among the top 15 health insurers grew from $1.04 billion to $1.2 billion, and the report forecasts continued growth as health insurers enter new markets. Humana led in terms of total spending among health insurers, boosting ad spend 22.6%, to $303.4 million, but WellPoint had the largest increase in terms of percentage at 30.16%.
