Semi-prepared foods represent one of the top trends dominating the food and beverage industry, A. Elizabeth Sloan writes, with more than half of shoppers using partially prepared products when fixing dinner, nearly half purchasing take-and-bake meat items weekly and a third of shoppers showing interest in fresh food kits, according to FMI research. Other major trends include foods that cater to solo eating occasions, kid-focused foods and beverages, American regional foods and nutritional and supplemental drinks and snacks.
