Kroger will add cashier-less technology at 400 of its stores next year. The technology, used through handheld scanners or the retailer's Scan, Bag, Go app, will let shoppers scan barcodes on their groceries and pay at self-checkout registers, with plans to eventually allow payment directly in the app, eliminating the need for stopping at a register.
