The Energy Information Administration reported that US crude stockpiles dropped by 5.6 million barrels last week, compared with analyst expectations for a 4.1-million-barrel decrease. Meanwhile, gasoline and distillate supplies posted a larger-than-expected build, gaining 6.8 million barrels and 1.7 million barrels, respectively.
