APPrise Mobile’s platform for investor-relations communications is designed to help companies, whether large or small, create native applications that supply the target audience with a wealth of crucial information, said Jeff Corbin, APPrise’s founder and CEO.

“Public companies needed a communications solution to inform or ‘apprise’ their investors on their mobile phones and tablets,” Corbin said in an e-mail interview. “TheIRapp was created to solve this problem. It was developed to be a cost-effective, easy-to-implement solution that would provide public companies with their own branded app available on the Apple App Store and Google Play.”

More than 125 companies are using the company’s investor-relations app solution, while the number of investors who have downloaded one or more of APPrise customers’ apps has surpassed 75,000, he said.

Using theIRapp, companies can stamp their branding on an app designed to provide a range of up-to-date information including publicly available stock information, press releases, and filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Corbin said.

Such mobile apps help provide investors with “company-curated” information in addition to stock information and other content supplied via a company website’s investor-relations section, he said.

“Companies are also adding marketing materials, videos and other compelling content that adds color to their corporate story beyond just the financials,” he said.

Other content supplied via an investor-relations app includes investor presentations, event information, conference-call transcripts and archived recordings, and media coverage, he said. In addition, the app can handle streaming of conference calls.

Companies will need a greater focus on native apps as their “de facto mechanism” for information delivery as tablet computing supplants PC use, Corbin said. Such apps “enable companies to deliver timely information regarding business updates, changes to sales content, [human resources] and benefits information, multimedia content, and even crisis-communications information,” he said.

App solutions such as theIRapp provide note-taking functionality, which Corbin said is among the mobile operating system’s productivity advantages that make smartphone and tablet use practical in the business world.

APPrise Mobile’s other products are theEMPLOYEEapp, which is designed for secure employee communications; theCOMMSapp, for external communications; and theCONFERENCEapp, which offers communications for investors and analysts as well as other conference and event communications.
