Being a SmartBrief editor is pretty great. Every day, I get to say: “Hey, have you heard about all this awesome stuff?” to thousands of people. It’s an amazing amount of fun to go digging for the best social media news stories — and it’s a privilege to get to share those stories with some of the brightest minds in social media and have them send me their thoughts in return.

And for the first time ever, I want to share that experience with one of you.

On Friday, July 20, one lucky SmartBrief reader will get to help me pick the stories that are included in the brief that day — and get his or her name, photo and accomplishments featured in the newsletter for all to see.

Sound like fun? Read on for details on how you can win the chance to be a SmartBrief guest editor for a day.

The challenge: How do you enter? Simple: Follow @SBoSM on Twitter, then send out this tweet, as many as three times per day.

Update: Can you get friends to tweet on your behalf? Of course you can — just make sure they mention your Twitter handle in their tweets.

The prize: We’ll pick a winner and let that person pick five links to be included in July 20 newsletter (with a couple of restrictions — see below). Not only will we feature that person’s picks in the newsletter, we’ll let the person offer up a little bit of commentary on the reason he or she thinks these posts are must-reads. And we’ll feature the person’s name, bio, photo and social media handles in a special editor’s note in that issue — a perk we’ve never granted a SmartBrief reader before.

The fine print: This is a one-time, unpaid gig. The prize is nontransferable. The five links the winner picks must 1) be related to social media; 2) be no more than 14 days old as of July 20; and 3) not feature the winner, his or her company or business partners in any way. SmartBrief reserves the right to reject any link or commentary and to select a different winner if the initial winner is unable to comply with these restrictions. The winner will be selected at random from a pool containing all entry tweets. Entry tweets must contain the hashtag #sbcontest to be considered valid. The winner will be notified via Twitter on July 16.

I can’t wait to share the joys of curating social media news with one of you. Good luck!
