President & CEO
Rick Stamberger is president and CEO of SmartBrief, which he co-founded with Dan O'Brien and Tom Wheeler. He has spent much of his career at the intersection of business, public policy and the not-for-profit sector.
Before his work at SmartBrief, Rick was a founding partner of Quest Partners LLC, a management consultancy based in Boston. He also served as executive vice president and a director of a Washington, D.C.-based technology firm owned by nine cable television companies and NBC. Rick began his career in Washington with the National Cable Television Association.
Rick served as a White House Fellow in 1984-85 in the Office of the Vice President. From 2008 to 2009, he was a member of President-elect Barack Obama's Transition Project, serving as an agency lead for the Executive Office of the President.
Rick is chairman of the board of directors of the Van Eck Funds. He is also an independent trustee of the Van Eck Market Vectors ETF Trust. He has been an active board member of numerous nonprofit organizations and was executive producer of "John Gardner, Uncommon American," a documentary for public television that aired in 2001. He is a graduate of Williams College and the Harvard Business School.
Chief Partnership Officer
Amanda oversees the growth and expansion of SmartBrief’s partnerships and guides the strategic direction of our current association relationships. In her role, she manages the Partnership Sales and Account Management divisions.
Amanda started her career in public relations and strategic communications, before moving into the nonprofit space, where she helped advance corporate partnerships for a number of national organizations including the Make-A-Wish Foundation and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Most recently, Amanda was the Managing Director for Blue State, a digital strategy and creative agency. Her experience both in-house and on the agency side gives her a deep understanding of how to build successful, long-term partnerships.
A Washington, D.C., area native, Amanda graduated from the University of Maryland with a bachelor’s degree in Communications and Public Relations.
Vice President, Content
Megan is the vice president of the Content Department. She began working at SmartBrief as an editorial intern in 2005, and since then has written, edited and managed content for the company's e-mail newsletters and blogs across many industries, including retail, CPG, foodservice, hospitality and health care. Previously, she worked at the American Chemical Society. She has a bachelor’s degree in English and German from James Madison University and a master’s degree in English from George Mason University.
Vice President, Sales & Publishing
Aaron’s team is responsible for driving SmartBrief’s revenue growth, supporting a talented group of associates, directors, and publishers that provide transparent value to advertising partners. He joined SmartBrief in 2010, and has performed virtually every role within the department. Prior to joining SmartBrief, he was a Media Sales Consultant for MediaOne. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Washington & Jefferson College.
Vice President, Engineering
Dennis joined SmartBrief in 2003. He leads the team that builds and maintains SmartBrief’s proprietary software, including a Content Management System for email newsletter, and an ad server that's tailored made for email. Dennis graduated from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology with a degree in Computer Engineering.
Vice President, Advertising & Sales Operations
Allison is responsible for leading SmartBrief's Sales and Advertising operations. She first joined SmartBrief in 2004, and has worked in a variety of roles throughout the organization - including partner and advertiser relationship management, advertising operations, and CRM strategy and operations. Allison started her career at State Street Global Advisors, and previously ran a sales business in the event industry. She holds a bachelor's degree in English and History from Colgate University.
Vice President, Product Marketing
Jenna began working at SmartBrief in 2010 as an Advertising Operations Client Services Manager. As head of Product Marketing she is responsible for product innovation around the core brief and advertising products, with the ultimate goal to deliver a product roadmap for revenue growth and product improvements. Previously, she worked at Horizon Media. Jenna holds a master’s in business administration and a bachelor’s degree in marketing from the University of Maryland.
Vice President, Marketing & Audience Development
Joe’s team is responsible for all marketing, demand generation, audience growth, creative design, and marketing communications across the SmartBrief enterprise. He joined SmartBrief in 2012 after running U.S. business development at Storyful, now part of NewsCorp, where he lead relationships with Google, the Economist, AFP and Reuters among others. Prior to Storyful, Joe spent nearly a decade at the Associated Press. A two-time AP Chairman’s Prize recipient, he was ultimately responsible for leading all U.S. digital marketing which included launching AP’s first Facebook pages and Twitter accounts.
